We hope the following assist you! Please check under the heading applying to you
Fault diagnosis WATER
Pump
on gravity fed system pulses so water comes out in spurts.
This could be a few things, if just installed you have the wrong pump or it could be correct but in wrong position. If it pulses with a shower
the chances are, it will be on the hand shower application more than others. You need to consult shower pump makers regards
this offering the requirements we have stated required for your product. If you have had this installed sometime and been
fine, the chances are lime scale has blocked the valve filters fitted in the back of the shower valve block. Unscrew you hoses hot and cold and with
a torch check inside you will see filters, remove these check and replace if required. Also check hoses, as we have seen
these blocked before in a very short space of time. Our showers operate high pressure and calcium build up is faster than with older systems.
Think hard about a water softener it will answer future problems and keep you covered by warranty because remember calcium damage is not
covered.
Bath and shower where water only dribbles out, old bath worked great before and tank supplied it fine.
You need a pump, increasingly more and more appliances operate on hi pressure systems and tank fed hot water is on the way out as it is very inefficient.
Without changing your boiler this is a good investment. Tell your plumber you need a twin impeller hot/cold feed pump offering 2.5 bar pressure.
OR
If you have a combi boiler (CANNOT FIT PUMPS TO THESE!!!) Check supply pipes are
not contaminated with calcium, the tap valves are not blocked by the same and filters are clear.
Shower
What water pressure is required to operate showers
correctly and what about baths and basin taps?
2.5
bar is what we consider optimum pressure for all. A
combi boiler is ideal just make sure it is not giving too much pressure. If it
is, use a pressure reduction valve. If your house cannot deliver the required
pressure you will need the assistance of a pump.
Water leaking from shower
taps inside the cabin, or bath tap does the same.
The
water cartridge in both needs replacing. Remove this and replace, just call us
we have them in stock and not expensive BUT check for calcium problem first!!
Big problem in some areas and will happen again if you do not purchase a water
softener.
How to change
Bath taps on all
whirlpools operate the same. In general, turn off water supply
, flip out the blue and red button on mixer tap. Inside you will see a
small grub screw. Loosen but not remove. Pull off lever. Now unscrew the dome
head and remove cartridge. Exchange with new and replace. Same principle
applies to divertor valves as well.
NOTE:
If you cannot remove the chrome dome of your tap, you will need to replace the
tap. Most bath taps come singularly in some cases the complete assembly needs
purchasing.
Shower taps. Please
see above. Thermal tap arrangements vary but in essence the same procedure is
required. The thermo insert is not cartridge but removes by same principle.
Shower taps if a complete valve replacement is required. Remove the parts as
mentioned. Remove hoses to the rear MARK where each goes. Inside cabin, unscrew
large nuts, withdraw complete assembly at the rear and refit new replacement
unit. Reseal around holes in shower column back.
Temperature was fine when installed but now either
too hot or cold.
If
you have a thermostatic valve it could be this but turn off water pull bath or
cabin out and remove flexi water supply pipes. Check for blockage inside pipe
for calcium. THIS IS MOST USUAL CAUSE. If so change BOTH feed pipes and check all
valves pipes and connections. In the rear of the tap body check filters located
at the mouth where the water supply pipes connect. These could be blocked. No
thermostatic valve then the problems will almost certainly be this. If your
pipes are clear and pump fitted, it could be failing or filters blocked on
this. Thermostatic valve fitted but all else good. The
valve needs replacement.
Electrical Problems Showers
Bulbs gone in overhead shower
light.
Easy enough to change. There are
a few versions of lights
Led complete "ring" section or strips
Fluoresent
Standard bulb
Complete light fitting
Turn
off the power supply and check which sort you have. Round small fitting, on
some the bulb can be removed. On others the round small fitting is sealed and
you need to pop this out from inside the shower and fit new
Florescent . DO NOT be hasty in changing
the tube (unscrew the overhead rainshower and all is exposed) It is more likely
to be the ballast not tube!! Choice here. Renew ballast
OR fit a newer type LED ring. This does away with both tube and ballast and
cuts failure rate many times over. Whichever you have they are all 12 volts
power.
Led lights in cabin.
Pull
shower away from wall. Check which has failed. Call 01908 317512 give exact
details of how long / wide / number of bulbs they sill organise the correct
type to be sent. Refit new strip. They either clip in or screw in. Sometimes
one cannot be changed so maybe three or four strips are required. Not
expensive!
Control panel does not light up or operate.
ALWAYS ISOLATE POWER SUPPLY!!!!!
This
can be one of only two things. Control panel failure or electric box.
Diagnostics for either can be difficult. In each case the control panel is
easier to remove than electric box and it is also more likely to fail
especially if the shower was connected without getting a full electrical safety
certificate at the time of install. This certificate is not only required by
ourselves as proof correct checks have been carried out, but BY LAW in most cases. Electrical surge will burn out either the electric box or control
panel. With this in mind and under
warranty: please go to
www.insigniaproducts co.uk. Now to Customer Services page, provided you have
already registered it will lead you to the "claims page" fill in the form and
click "send". Expect a reply in a couple of hours as
to what action to take. They will tell you to return an item and download
return form fill in and send back to address on form. Also enclose copy (Not
original!) of
Part P safety certificate. When back at our UK distributors they will check it
out for you free of charge replace whatever is required and send back to you by

your warranty. If no certificate they will call you and explain the problem and
costs involved. Out of warranty period In all cases a
check of returned item is free of charge. Go to our distributors home website

full contact details. without these nothing can be
done! They will call you and explain the
problem and costs involved.
To remove shower control panel there are normally 4 x self tapping screws or 4 x nuts to remove. After isolating the electrical supply. Disconnect the wiring
attached to this. Unscrew nuts or screws from the rear of the column and the
control will now withdraw from the front. If it is refuses to come out DO NOT
FORCE. Using a box knife carefully cut the seal around the panel making sure to
not mark the column. The control will now come out.
To remove the electric box. Isolate from house mains
first!!! Now checking the type of box you have you will find it is attached via
2 or 4 x nuts and bolts. First remove all connected wiring. Why not label each
wire first, in order you will know which couples to which on re-install, if no
markings are present . Remove nuts and bolts withdraw
the electric box.
NEVER under any circumstances attempt to
take any item apart, no parts are reclaimable, none are repairable and all are
unit exchange only.
Shower no longer generates steam.
This
could be one of two things, the generator has failed or the electrical box has
failed. If you contact customer service at http://www.insigniarange.co.uk/customerservice.asp they will advise. No
matter if covered by warranty or you need to purchase a part, these are the
people to go to! They will identify the most likely cause and ask you to remove
this from your shower or bath then using the returns form with your priority
message number given, send it directly back to ourselves. When with us we
operate a 24 hour turnaround system where possible, this means the item gets
checked (free of charge if out of warranty) fault is diagnosed and a
replacement is sent by courier 24 hour delivery. If out of warranty you will be contacted and
advised of cost first. Payment can be made instantly over the telephone to
avoid delay.
To remove Steam Generator
Turn off water supply at valves that should have been fitted. Isolate electric
supply. Unscrew the "Water In" pipe. Repeat with "Waste Out" and "Steam Out".
You will see attaching nuts and bolts. Unscrew these and withdraw from fixing.
Common cause of steam generator
failures. Calcium build up on element. This gives
symptoms of short bursts of steam or no steam at all. When removed you can
generally see inside the water inlet this is the cause. THERE IS NO WAY TO
CLEAN THIS OUT. THE UNIT MUST BE REPLACED. No electrical parts are reclaimable
and this unit MUST be treated as SEALED. Another failure cause will be waste water not
being allowed to run off to house waste. Make sure the waste pipe is clear by
blowing down it. This will give symptoms such as hot water coming out of the
steam outlet then tripping the RCD fitted etc. One other major cause is the
"Gate valve" inside the generator has failed due to too high water pressure
from install. Water is being let into the generator all the time and will give
symptoms the same as a blocked waste. Also check supply feed of water is
correct and pipes are not blocked by calcium.
Bath electrical problems
Bath electrical failure
Control panel not working etc. Multi options have
failed. Not just one item usually.
This

Bath Control panel removal.
ISOLATE FROM ELECTRIC MAINS IN ALL CASES
In
most cases this can be done simply. Some have two screws under the chrome outer
ring. Some just need carefully levering up as they are clipped in. When removed you will see one connection, usually a grey lead.
Disconnect this and remove from bath
Bath electrical box removal.
Pulling
the bath away from the wall locate the box that has wires leading from it. The
box will be bolted to the chassis of the bath usually. Unbolt,
remove wires marking them first if not marked in order correct replacement is
made. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR NO ITEMS ARE RECLAIMABLE. ONLY CURE FOR A FAILURE
IS REPLACEMENT
Whirlpool motor humming and possibly knocks out
/trips the RCD fitted.
Pull
bath away from the wall, locate pump and electric motor. Isolate mains. Check
for blockage as this is most common, Children's broken bath toy, pieces of jewellery
etc. Some pumps have an exposed impeller, with this
type you can try to move the impeller back or forth with a screwdriver gently
first pushing one way on the vane then the other. If it moves only one way
there is something stuck in the pump. If you do not have this kind of pump then
you will need to remove it and check the same procedure by hand turning the
motor. If the item can be freed it should work again afterwards. If not do not
attempt repair. The pump and motor assembly need replacement.
Nothing
jammed in impeller? Remove and replace whole assembly
GENERAL FITTINGS PROBLEMS ETC
Does my product need
servicing?
If you purchased a steam shower cabin, a whirlpool bath a
shower cabin or enclosure the simple answer is yes it does! Like any mechanical or
electrical product, prevention is the cheapest and easiest way to avoid costly
breakdowns and hassle!
Here are our recommendations.
12 months, pull your bath or shower away from the wall isolating
electrical connection first.
Check whirlpool motor air intake is clear vacuum out and
dust fluff etc
Check supply water pipes for corrosion from lime scale,
calcium build up
Check tightness of all joints tighten where required.
Check electrical connections for any obvious signs of
poor original connection or other. Never repair yourself. ALWAYS USE A
QUALIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.
Check all flexi pipe hose clips
Check for signs of water leaks under the product or where
it has been standing.
Remove Overhead shower head and clean out any Calcium
build up from holes
Repeat with hand shower
Check hand shower hose for wear.
Check foot spa hose for wear.
Visually inspect all hoses all fixtures and all fittings.
Tighten or replace where required.
How do I clean my shower?
We
sell shower cleaner spray but always use the Ozone feature as well. Turn this
on for 20 mins with doors closed 2-3 times a month, it will assist in the
resistance of mould growth along with disinfect the shower killing various
bacteria. Here's a tip for glass. Try RainX products! If
you Google it a full description will appear and where to purchase. Yes made
for car windscreens but that environment is far harsher than your shower.
Splash marks do not like to stick to glass! Never clean with the shower still hot. Wait until it cools to room
temperature naturally.
How do I clean my whirlpool bath?
Easy
enough just follow this! Proper Care and Maintenance of Your Whirlpool Tub
Keeping
your whirlpool tub clean and free of bacteria is essential for the health of
your family and the life of your whirlpool. Cleaning the surface as well as the
jets and plumbing system twice a month will keep your whirlpool tub working
properly.
Whirlpool Surface Care
After
every use, wipe down the entire surface and basin of the tub. This will prevent
mildew from building up in the corners and
edges of the jet openings. Make sure
to use a soft cloth or squeegee to absorb any residual water left in corners
and avoid
scratching the surface of the whirlpool.
When undertaking maintenance cleaning, use a mild non abrasive cleaner and
avoid
detergents, disinfectants or cleaning
products that come in an aerosol can. Keeping up on regular cleanings will save
time and effort during monthly deep cleaning.
Whirlpool Jet and Plumbing Maintenance
Before
performing the whirlpool system cleaning process make sure that all of the jets
are closed tightly so there is no air induction.
Fill
the tub with hot water until the water level is just above the highest jet. Be
careful not to start the whirlpool before the water has reached the appropriate
level. Running a whirlpool without water can damage the pump seals which will
lead to leaking or failure. Once the whirlpool tub is full, add cleaning product ( We sell the products you
need!) and let the whirlpool run for 10-15
minutes with the air controls fully open. After this, drain the tub completely
and refill the tub with cold water. Run the whirlpool for 5-10 minutes to rinse
the system. Dry completely afterwards and your whirlpool will be clean for
another two weeks to a month depending on the amount of usage.
Chrome fittings rusting in
shower /bath and the chrome is coming off my bath taps and plug.
Have
a word with however cleans the items in your house, they have been over
enthusiastic. Sounds like Mr Muscle, or Limelight or even one of the many other
products of this kind on the market today. They will kill Chrome bright work. Always use
delicate products!! You don't use sandpaper to shave!
The water inlet chrome cover whirlpool bath broken.
Call 01908 317512 order a new one and do
not use until it has been replaced
Below is an excerpt of a complaint received
We continued using the bath (what
else could we do with two children aged three and five?) but point out this is
very dangerous as a child can get their fingers or flesh sucked into this
causing bruising. To add to the problem the whirlpool pump has stopped working.
Please help.
Firstly NEVER
allow children to use the whirlpool feature of these baths. We are explicit,
these baths are not designed for children, the jets as
you know are very powerful and not at all recommended for children let alone
young ones! Now your problem, under
normal circumstances the inlet cover will not break unless it has been hit with
some force. If it breaks remove it and try to piece all broken sections
together. Whatever is missing has been sucked into the system, if small it
would get fired out of the jets but if a large section it will jam the pump.
This is what has happened to you. You now need a tradesman to remove the cover
of the pump and the remove the offending item from the impeller. If the pump no
longer operates you will need a new pump. Never use a bath or shower bath
whirlpool with this broken as other items could get sucked in as well (soap
etc).
Crazing around steam outlet on a
shower or shower bath.
The cause of
this will be only two things.
Excessive use
outside the guild lines found here:
http://www.insigniarange.co.uk/instructions/Steam_Safety_Please_Read.pdf
15 Minutes is
the maximum recommended period.
Or
The steam
outlet into the shower or shower bath has not been correctly opened.
There is
nothing to ever suggest any product fault is behind this. The reason for it WILL BE overheating in either of the
two fashions mentioned above.
This problem is
NOT COVERED
by warranty and is not product failings but use. The acrylic finish has
expanded faster than the glass fibre body underneath due to operation beyond it's designated design, causing excessive heat build up.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS AS IT IS COVERED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS OF ASSEMBLY
IN ADDITION.
Leaking from the glass front
panel of a whirlpool bath or steam shower / bath.
The cause of
this is mishandling on install or moving the bath tub around in the room. We
have never heard of these leaking after correct install. Please see
instructions on handling. If you have a bath with this panel as per
instructions NEVER LIFT BY BRIDGING RUBBER OVER THE TOP OF IT. This will pull
up the glass from the seal. Commonsense really? We
think so but on occasion it does happen!
To cure this
you need to remove the bolts retaining the rubber bridge. Lift out the glass,
clean off ALL sealer which is not difficult but time consuming, (never skimp on
this!) from the insert channel and the glass itself. Reseal using silicone
sealer. Remember to undertake a neat and unbroken section. Press glass firmly
into place. Refix bridge clean off excess sealer and leave for at least 24
hours. Remember to never again lift or
move the bath tub from this position as it is NOT
covered by warranty under any circumstances.
Leaking shower from a glass panel or where fixed to
tray or tub.
This will be
because the shower has been incorrectly sealed in the first instance on
assembly. Logic suggests that the product itself cannot be at fault because it
is all made of impervious materials. To reseal panels in not always easy and
this is why in the few seconds it takes on assembly to seal correctly
, is so important. First try sealing from the outside of the cabin
leaving 24 hours then checking again. If this does not work and it is usual it
may only have a 50% chance, you now need to remove the offending panel. Remove
EVERY PIECE of sealer on all mating surfaces then replace fully sealed. Leave 24 hours and check. NOTE if you used a professional
installer and he worked following assembly instructions 100% he should not charge to undertake
this. It would have been him who incorrectly sealed the cabin in the first
instance.
